Soup Kitchen

Beth Shifra opened up a soup kitchen to help feed the community. They had seen the need to do so by looking at the population the church's free soup kitchen's drew. They wanted to give Jewish people the opportunity to eat and not have to sign in their name or social security number. We didn't turn away anyone. We had a mashgiach that watched our food and made sure that the food didn't get touched by other utensils (mixing fleishig-meat and milchag-dairy). When the people came in to eat we had them at our advantage to teach them about yiddishkeit. If we didn't have our doors open to them than they very well would walk to a church that had free meals.

When our Passover holiday ended and the 8 days of free food came to a completion. People came to us and asked for it to continue. This became part of our mission to service the community based upon it's needs.
