This week's Torah Portion is Yithro.
|
Yithro was Moshe's (Moses) father -in-law. He met Moshe in the dessert and gave advice on how to deal with judgment issues. He advised him to choose G-d fearing men that would administer justice. G-d told Moses that if the Jewish people obey me and keep the convemenat they will be "my special chosen nation". When Moses informed the Jewish people of this they all responded that as G-d spoke so shall we do! The story of the giving of the Torah is discussed at (Mount Sinai). The Ten Commandments is read in the Synagogue. People stand during the Torah reading of the Ten commandments. We should all look upon the fact that Mohe was willing to listen and heed advice from his father-in-law as a good thing. Many times someone may give you a piece of advice and you may laugh at it. It can be considered quite silly. It's important that you understand that people can have great ideas and should be given the opportunity to be listened to by their peers. |
