In a rare public statement, Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has called for an 'AI whistleblower' to address the potential job losses that could arise from the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. This statement comes from Chen Deli, a senior researcher at DeepSeek, who participated in a panel discussion alongside leaders from five other prominent AI companies, known as China's 'six little dragons', at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, eastern Zhejiang province.
This event marks the second time in recent months that DeepSeek has sent a representative to an industry gathering. In September, the company's head of AI governance, Wu Shaoqing, joined a panel on AI ethical guidelines at the Global Open-Source Innovation Meetup in Hangzhou.
Chen expressed optimism about the technology itself but pessimism regarding its overall societal impact. He noted that AI's current limitations create a 'honeymoon phase' between humans and machines, but warned that many jobs could eventually be automated. This perspective highlights the complex relationship between technological progress and its potential consequences, inviting further discussion on the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies.
