"South Carolina has always been a contender, even before Kelsi joined IMG. The whole SEC was interested early on due to her southeast US roots. But with Coach Staley's presence and the success of former teammates, it was always a strong possibility," Oliver explained.

However, one of the most significant factors was Coach Staley's ability to develop post players. The Gamecocks have produced numerous professional post players in recent years, including A'ja Wilson, Aliyah Boston, and Laeticia Amihere.
"To follow in the footsteps of these great post players, why not choose South Carolina? Kelsi has been compared to Aliyah Boston and A'ja Wilson, and I believe those comparisons are spot on. Coach Staley has proven her ability to utilize post players' strengths," Oliver said.

Her mechanics are perfect, and she has a soft touch around the basket. She's a versatile player, able to play inside and out, and her footwork is exceptional."
Oliver even compares Kelsi's versatility to three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić, saying, "We call her Kelsi Jokić. She's a great passer, defender, and rebounder. Dawn Staley will find many ways to utilize her skills."
