She acknowledged the exceptional demand at Flinders Medical Centre, with attendances exceeding last year's average by over 10%. Lawrence also highlighted the issue of aged care patients occupying hospital beds, emphasizing the need for more beds to treat patients like the 74-year-old woman.

However, due to the busy emergency department, she was seen as quickly as possible.
